Zoltar

Zoltar is an attempt to give chance an intelligible vocabulary. It possesses over 25,000 words that have been recorded and classified one by one. At the press of a button, you can watch it select, using its abacus-brain, the articles, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, interjections, verbs, and nouns that will form a sentence.

Zoltar assembles them according to one of its 10 possible sentence structures, then recites it to anyone who comes seeking advice. Developed at Avatar during a creative residency in 2012, Zoltar is a mechanical work created in 2014 for the Ex Muro Humanorium exhibition, the strange funfair.
