L'Art de la Robustesse

Biologist Olivier Hamant developed the concept of robustness to describe how living systems survive not by optimizing, but by diversifying, building connections, and embracing fluctuations. TRI and researcher Rosie Belley are partnering to apply this concept to the organization's artistic practice and operational structure. Running from April 2026 to February 2027, the project unfolds in three phases: research and data collection, studio experimentation, and analysis and dissemination.

Ultimately, the findings will be compiled into a practical guide for the community, co-created with artist Marie-Renée Bourget. This is not a performance, but a research-creation project carried out in collaboration with partners from the arts, community, and business sectors: l'Engrenage St-Roch, CDEC Québec, and Des Prés. A multisectoral advisory committee is supporting and informing the process. Charles Baron, a specialist in leadership and collective innovation at FSA ULaval, is serving as a mentor to Rosie. Several public activities will take place throughout the project.
